NHSRCL Signs Contract for Bullet Train Maintenance Machinery

On eight August 2026 in New Delhi, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) signed a contract with the KCS?AVADH Consortium for specialised machinery to maintain rolling stock for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project. The agreement covers the design, manufacture and supply of equipment, together with testing, commissioning and deployment across designated maintenance facilities. NHSRCL indicated the machinery will support rolling stock maintenance requirements across the high speed corridor.

The contract specifies the design and engineering of bespoke maintenance equipment, followed by manufacture and phased supply to depot and workshop locations. It also includes testing protocols and commissioning processes required to integrate the machinery with existing maintenance regimes and asset management systems. Contractual obligations include adherence to industry standards and quality assurance measures during production and testing. The corporation is responsible for implementing the project and for provision of systems and facilities to support operation and upkeep.

Once commissioned, the specialised machinery will be used for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on trains operating the corridor. The equipment is designed to streamline maintenance workflows, shorten turnaround times and support higher availability of rolling stock. These capabilities are intended to sustain reliable high speed operations and consistent passenger service standards along the route.

The contract forms part of the infrastructure and maintenance requirements for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad project and aligns with wider procurement for depot systems. NHSRCL will oversee testing and commissioning under the terms of the agreement with the consortium and will manage deployment schedules. The agreement is intended to establish clear responsibilities for performance, spare parts supply and technical support during the contract lifecycle. The announcement was issued by NHSRCL as the source of the information and further technical or commercial details were not supplied in the release.
