Odisha Clears Rs 37.93 bn Investments To Create 20,000 Jobs

The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) approved 24 investment proposals worth Rs 37.93 billion (bn) across 14 districts in a move to boost industrialisation, with the projects expected to generate nearly 20,000 jobs. The panel was chaired by Anu Garg, chief secretary, and cleared proposals spanning textiles, manufacturing, clean energy, advanced materials, tourism and logistics. The approvals aim to promote geographically dispersed industrial growth rather than concentrating investments in a few clusters.

The textiles and apparel sector emerged as the largest employment generator among the sanctioned projects, led by an apparel manufacturing unit proposed by Nandraj Textiles Pvt Ltd in Khurda which carries an investment of Rs 1.69 bn and an employment potential of 10,306 people. Shahi Exports Pvt Ltd plans a knitted garments unit in Sambalpur with an investment of Rs 1.46 bn and capacity to employ 1,840 people, while Maa Taratarini Textile Park Pvt Ltd will develop an integrated textile project in Ganjam with an investment of Rs 700 million (mn) and 350 jobs. Other manufacturing approvals include facilities for colour-coated steel sheets, stainless-steel pipes and corrugated boxes across Sundargarh, Khurda and other districts. Several proposals targeted value chains and employment intensity rather than capital concentration.

Clean energy and advanced manufacturing also featured prominently as the authority cleared a Battery Energy Storage System manufacturing unit by CESC Green Power Ltd in Dhenkanal with an investment of Rs 6.84 bn. AVP Star Pvt Ltd will set up a lab-grown diamond facility in Khurda at Rs 5.00 bn with an estimated 500 jobs, while Lithros Batteries India Pvt Ltd secured approval for a Rs 600 million (mn) investment in electric vehicles, batteries and inverters. Steel fabrication and refractory expansions by JSW Severfield and Koshal Ceramics attracted investments of Rs 2.15 bn and Rs 2.75 bn respectively, together supporting substantial local employment.

Tourism approvals featured a five-star resort in Koraput by Swosti Premium at Rs 2.50 bn creating 480 jobs. Two logistics projects worth Rs 2.15 bn were cleared. Officials said approvals aim to spread development across districts.
