Policybazaar for Business Adds Balasundaram R to Advisory Board

Policybazaar for Business has recently appointed general insurance veteran Balasundaram R as a Senior Advisory Board member and Head of Marine Practice. The move is aimed at strengthening the company’s technical depth and long-term advisory capabilities across the corporate insurance landscape.

With over four decades of experience in the Indian general insurance sector, Balasundaram brings deep expertise across underwriting, claims management and solution structuring. He is widely recognised for his long-standing specialisation in marine cargo insurance, where he has consistently balanced underwriting discipline with commercial outcomes while designing bespoke solutions for complex corporate risks.

Beyond technical proficiency, Balasundaram is known for his leadership in channel management, negotiation and team development. He has also played a significant role in mentoring talent across the industry and is a strong advocate of insurance education. As a visiting faculty member at institutions such as the National Insurance Academy and the College of Insurance, he continues to engage with and guide young professionals. He is also a regular speaker at industry forums organised by bodies including IUMI, IBAI, III and NIA.

Commenting on the appointment, Sajja Praveen Chowdary, Director, Policybazaar for Business, said Balasundaram’s extensive experience, particularly in complex marine risks, will be instrumental in enhancing the company’s advisory capabilities and delivering robust insurance solutions to Indian enterprises.

The appointment reinforces Policybazaar for Business’s focus on deepening domain expertise and building a strong advisory ecosystem to support businesses facing increasingly complex risk and insurance requirements.
