Vijayan launches multiple infrastructure, health, and aviation projects

Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister, Kerala, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects in health, aviation, and infrastructure sectors in Kochi. He also initiated state-level welfare programs for SC/ST and backward class communities. In the morning, the CM inaugurated the new cancer specialty block at the Ernakulam Government General Hospital, a highly sought-after government facility in the district. The new six-storey block, funded by the Cochin Smart Mission (CSML) at a cost of Rs 250 million, accommodates 105 beds and features a cancer ICU, chemotherapy unit, separate wards for men and women, dormitories for bystanders, nursing stations, and rooms for doctors on each floor, as mentioned by Veena George, Health Minister. CM Vijayan remarked, "This will accelerate the progress of health infrastructure in Kochi. This is a time when public health systems in the state are being appreciated. The government is engaged in improving and expanding public health systems." Additionally, in Kochi, the chief minister launched state-level programs as part of the 'Social Solidarity Week' observance, aiming to promote progress for all without discrimination, according to a statement from the office of SC/ST, backward classes welfare minister K Radhakrishnan. Vijayan emphasised, "The marginalized sections have to be brought to the mainstream with the help of other sections of society. There must be efforts to create schemes in the sectors of health, education, employment, and basic infrastructure to uplift their lives. Such activities are taking place in Kerala."
