Indian cos win big in British Safety Council awards

The British Safety Council has awarded 35 Indian companies with the prestigious international “Sword of Honour” award 2020.
Sixty-six companies across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia received the Sword of Honour award. British Safety Council's members functioning in more than 60 countries aim to improve workers wellbeing, thereby creating a safer work environment.

British Safety Council's Sword of Honour awards acknowledges and rewards organisations that have successfully and effectively worked towards culminating health, safety, and environment management. Global organisations to have achieved “Five Stars” according to British Safety Council's “Five Star Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Audit” are invited to apply.

The Indian companies that won big include Larsen & Toubro (L&T), DLF, Asian Paints, Cairn Oil & Gas, Panchshil Realty, Mindspace Business Parks REIT, One & Two Horizon Centre, Torrent Power, Indorama, Chemplast Cuddalore Vinyls, Udupi Power Corporation, The Chanakya and The Lodhi.

Among the Indian companies who won, DLF saw a lead with 12 project sites across the nation followed by L&T with eight project sites. “[The year] 2020 has been tough for businesses due to the pandemic. However, it is encouraging to see that more Indian companies have stepped up to the challenge by continuing to keep their workplaces safe. These organisations are leading global efforts to make workplaces safe, healthy, and sustainable,” said Hemant Sethi, Country Manager, India, British Safety Council.
