Pavna Industries forms JV with Taiwan’s SmartChip Microelectronic

Pavna Industries, a leading manufacturer of high-quality automotive components across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, commercial and off-road vehicles, has entered into a joint venture with Taiwan-based SmartChip Microelectronic Corporation (SMC). The JV will focus on manufacturing advanced electronic components for the automobile industry (ICE and EV) as well as hardware solutions for residential and commercial locks, aerospace, and medical applications. 

Pavna will leverage its operational, manufacturing, and procurement expertise, along with its strong understanding of the Indian automotive market, to manage the JV’s operations in India. SMC will provide its technological strengths, R&D capabilities, and product innovation in areas including automotive e-lock systems, EV components such as motor controllers, throttle bodies, dashboards for 2W and 3W, EV charging piles, and e-locking solutions for residential and commercial sectors. 

Equity in the JV will be structured with Pavna Industries holding 80 per cent and SMC 20 per cent. 

Commenting on the partnership, Swapnil Jain, Managing Director, Pavna Industries, said, “This strategic partnership is an important milestone on our path to emerging as a mobility solutions leader in advanced technologies. By merging Pavna's manufacturing and market capabilities with SMC's state-of-the-art electronics knowledge, we expect to speed up the penetration of EV technologies in India as well as grow into new high-growth markets. With this partnership, we will also further enhance our capacity to serve domestic and global markets with innovative, dependable, and sustainable solutions.”
