Tata BlueScope Building Products (TBBP), which is a business division of Tata BlueScope Steel Ltd, inaugurated its first LYSAGHT Solution Center (LSC) on April 27, 2012, in Goa. This step has been taken with the aim to scale up the reach and accessibility of LYSAGHT’s range of products in previously untapped geographies in India.

One-stop-shop

Max Roofing India Pvt Ltd has been appointed as the authorised solutions provider for the centre. The LSC will be staffed by professionals who will demonstrate product features and technicalities to customers based in Goa. LSC will be a one-stop-shop for LYSAGHT’s range of roof and wall claddings, decking, purlins and accessories. The centre will provide the customers access to a wide range of superior architectural profiles, speedy response and shorter lead time. It will also be equipped to erect structures and deliver reroofing and retro-fitting solutions.

Applications

With a strong legacy of more than 150 years with applications in prestigious projects all around the world, the LYSAGHT brand has been associated with high-quality, innovative designs, technical expertise and service excellence. The products are used for application in all segments that are associated with construction, including the industrial, infrastructure, commercial and residential sectors.

Expansion plans

Commenting on the occasion, Riten Choudhury, Vice President, Tata BlueScope Building Products, said, “This is a very important step in furthering our expansion strategy across the country. The new centre is a demonstration of TBBP’s commitment to meet burgeoning customer needs by enhancing reach and service excellence. Over the next two months, we plan to launch LYSAGHT Solution Centers in the states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh with a view to strengthen our relationships with the local businesses and communities.”

In addition, Ajay Rattan, General Manager-Sales and Market Development, Tata BlueScope Building Products, said, “The initiative is an example of our customer-focused approach. With this centre, we are better poised to be in close proximity to our customers and provide them with a unique buying experience of the LYSAGHT range of products and solutions.”

Partnering success

Tata BlueScope Steel is an equal JV between Tata Steel and BlueScope Steel, Australia, in the field of coated steel, steel building solutions and related building products. The Tata BlueScope Building Products division manufactures and sells roll-formed roof and wall-cladding solutions, along with light-weight PEB structures.

The company operates in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region. It maintains high standards in safety, health and environment. Moreover, it has been certified by UL MSS India for the ISO 9001:2008 and the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.

Augmenting expertise

Adding to this expertise is the LYSAGHT brand with a strong legacy of over 150 years. It has set exemplary benchmarks in steel roof and wall cladding projects. It is associated with high-quality, innovative designs and service excellence. The brand has been a part of architectural heritage buildings across the globe and is highly recommended by architects, engineers, developers and government bodies. Some of the prestigious projects executed by TBBP are the stadiums for the Commonwealth Games, the Delhi and Bengaluru Metro stations, the Monorail station for Mumbai, the airport buildings for Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai, buildings for Mahindra Automotive Ltd, BHEL, Bharati Shipyards, etc.

Facilitating excellence

Globally, LYSAGHT’s ongoing commitment to research and development is the driving force behind its continuous business development. The first research and development centre was founded in the 1960s and has been dedicated to new product research, product development and testing. The centre is a fully accredited testing authority. The BlueScope LYSAGHT research and development centre has focused on customers’ needs and the pursuit of excellence and innovation. This underpins Tata BlueScope Building Products as a division driven by high quality and integrity. All LYSAGHT systems are tested before being released to the market. Roll-formed steel profiles are produced from high strength steel; hence, load capacities should not be extrapolated from their thickness or shape. All load tables and data are prepared using actual test data. The claddings are tested for cyclonic as well as non-cyclonic conditions using the latest methods for applying simulated wind pressure.
