Orissa's five IPPs to go on stream by 2012
Five Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are expected to commission their proposed power projects in Orissa by the end of 2012. These IPPs include GMR Kamalanga Energy (1,400 MW), Jindal India Thermal Power (JITPL) (1,200 MW), Monnet Power Company (1,050 MW) and Maa Durga Thermal Power (60 MW).
The state government has signed 30 MoUs with the IPPs, with a combined capacity of around 38,000 MW, out of which the state share will be 6,774 MW. Of these, Sterlite Energy and Aarati Steel have commissioned 600 MW and 50 MW, respectively, and are supplying the entire power to the state grid.
