Uttarakhand plans three new airports

Keeping in view the strategic importance of Uttarakhand, the state government has sought the development of three new airports in the state from the Centre.The government has advised the Centre to develop Naini-Saini airport in Pithoragarh district, Chaniyalisaur in Uttarkashi and Gauchar in Chamoli district with the hundred percent infrastructure grant.The development of these three airports will not only give fillip to the tourism sector in Uttarakhand but will also help provide quick relief at the time of natural disasters. Moreover, these three airports are located near the international borders, which are strategically very important.
