The controversial Border Road Task Force´s forest highway project recently received an approval from the National Board for Wildlife. The project includes widening of National Highway 31A from Sevoke to Gangtok, which passes through Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. With paperwork initiated in 2009, the project was in status quo since 2013 during the UPA regime.
