VMC to build over 3,000 houses

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will build two major housing projects in the city by constructing 3,200 houses for the urban poor in Tandalja and Bapod areas. These will replace the slums existing on government plots. The schemes will be taken up under the Pradhan Mantri Aavas Yojana for the Sahakarnagar settlement in Tandalja and Ektanagar in Bapod. Under a PPP mode, the developer will construct houses for the slum dwellers on a part of the land, while it will develop the remaining portion for commercial purposes.
