Center mandates govt training to private engineer consultants

According to the Central Government, Private consultant engineers must complete government training, who has made this requirement for engineers working for consulting firms engaged in building national highways. Only engineers educated after April 1, 2023, will be permitted to create a thorough project report (DPR).

Highways, bridges, and tunnel projects of the highest caliber will be completed on schedule due to this government initiative. The future of the private sector will also be brighter because of the expansion of the engineer-technical workforce.

All central government agencies and state governments received instructions to this effect on August 29 from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It states that private consultants are necessary for the government's national highway projects, feasibility studies for bridge and tunnel projects, DPRs for pre-construction activities, and construction work. They are made to take the brunt of their subpar work. Projects experience delays in environmental review and land acquisition as a result of flawed DPRs.

For all consulting firms, such as Highway and Pavement Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Transport Engineer, Bridge-Tunnel Senior Engineer, Senior Survey Engineer, etc., the ministry has mandated training from the Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (IAHE). Engineers who fail to comply will not be deemed qualified to create the DPR for the road project.

There will be 30 different training programs, but three subjects will have to be covered every two years as a requirement. CARS issued the initial 15-day road safety audit certificate. The second consists of 16 days of quality control and material testing, and the third is a three-day course on how to deal with things like falling bridges and tunnels.

The private company will pay for the cost of the training. Engineers working for consulting firms will be required to include the aforementioned training in their resumes.
