Complete Rohru-Dodra-Kwar Road Within Stipulated Time

Shimla district Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh inspected the ongoing Rohru-Dodra-Kwar road project and directed officials to ensure that all work met prescribed quality standards and was completed within the stipulated time. The inspection focused on progress along the challenging stretches and on measures to mitigate weather-related delays. He emphasised adherence to technical specifications and timely mobilisation of resources.

The minister said that construction of the Chidgaon-Dodra-Kwar road would be completed within the stipulated timeframe and noted that the project would address the region's long-standing road infrastructure needs. He said that about Rs 450 million (mn) was being spent on the project. Given the difficult geographical conditions, limited working seasons and adverse weather, approval had been granted to extend the deadline for the remaining work under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase one until March 2027 to help secure completion with the required quality.

He added that work on the Rohru-Chirgaon road, costing about Rs 200 mn, was underway and would also be completed within the stipulated time. Discussions had been held with the Uttarakhand chief minister regarding the road link connecting Dodra-Kwar with neighbouring Uttarakhand, and construction work on the section within Himachal Pradesh jurisdiction would be completed soon. Officials were instructed to coordinate inter-state clearances and ensure continuity of work across jurisdictional boundaries.

Adequate financial approvals had been granted for several link roads in the area, with allocations of Rs 45 mn for the Kitarwadi link road, Rs 105 mn for the Jiskun-Jakha road and Rs 40 mn for the Jadkot road. Work on these projects would commence once all statutory formalities were completed. The minister called for close monitoring of contractors and timely release of funds to avoid further delays and to deliver durable road connectivity for local communities.
