Delhi Road Projects Worth Rs. 19.41 bn Inaugurated

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated four road infrastructure projects worth Rs. 19.41 bn in Delhi on 29 September, including the long-delayed Barapullah Phase 3 elevated corridor. The ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, members of her cabinet and Union Minister of State for Road Transport Harsh Malhotra.

The Barapullah Phase 3 corridor connects Mayur Vihar Phase 1 in East Delhi with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences area in South Delhi through an elevated, signal-free route. It links with the existing Barapullah elevated road at Sarai Kale Khan, creating an approximately 9-km continuous stretch.

The project was approved in 2014 and initiated in 2015, but faced several delays and cost increases. Its revised cost rose to approximately Rs. 16.35 bn. The corridor is designed to improve connectivity between eastern and southern parts of the capital and reduce dependence on signal-controlled routes.

Shah also inaugurated the Mukarba Chowk underpass on the Outer Ring Road in north Delhi. He laid foundation stones for two further projects in South Delhi: an extension of the Modi Mill-Kalkaji flyover and a new flyover near Savitri Cinema.

Gupta credited cooperation between the Central and Delhi governments for the projects. Delhi Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma said the inauguration marked the completion of an 11-year wait for the Barapullah flyover and fulfilled a commitment made by the government last year. The corridor includes a dedicated cycle track, pedestrian-oriented infrastructure and a bridge across the Yamuna floodplain with 125-m pillar spans intended to reduce environmental impact.

Interview with: Lalit Das, Founder & CEO, Agentra AIWhy the next phase of supply chain technology will be about AI that acts, not just advises?Supply chains no longer have a visibility problem. They have a decision-latency problem. It takes about 8.7 hours to detect a disruption and more than 40 more to understand its impact, all before anyone acts. Meanwhile, disruption costs the global economy an estimated $184 billion a year.Enterprises already own excellent systems of record. What they lack is a system of action. Copilots don't fix that, they just give faster answers about a broken pro..
