Komatireddy Says HAM Roads Will Transform Telangana

Roads and Buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy attended a ceremony in Nalgonda and outlined plans for road investment under the Hybrid Annuity Model. The minister said projects under HAM will be taken up at a cost of Rs130 billion (bn) and that the programme will aim to improve connectivity across both urban and rural areas. He described the measures as central to broader development objectives.

The minister said that improved road links would facilitate industrial growth and generate employment opportunities across the state. During his tenure, funds amounting to Rs71.1 bn had been secured under plan and non?plan heads for road development. He noted that Rs19 bn had been sanctioned under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund for junctions and cement concrete roads after discussions with the Union minister and that efforts were underway to secure an additional Rs10 bn.

He added that tenders had been called for the Rs110 bn Regional Ring Road project and that road works worth Rs260 bn were being taken up by the department. The Detailed Project Report for the Hyderabad?Amaravati greenfield highway had been finalised and the project was at the tender stage. Construction of a 52?km elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam would be launched soon, the minister said.

At the event the minister attended a puja during the inauguration of the camp office of MP Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy at Prakasham Bazar in Nalgonda. He announced financial assistance of Rs50,000 to a family from the Munugode constituency to help establish a kirana shop.

The minister indicated that the package of works and funding should accelerate both industrial investment and local livelihoods by improving access and reducing travel times. The department will proceed with tendering and construction while seeking further central support for targeted junction and pavement schemes. Officials will monitor implementation to ensure the projects achieve planned economic and social benefits.
