Telangana Gets Rs 608 Billion Sanction For Major Road Projects

In a major infrastructure boost, the government has sanctioned Rs 608 billion for a series of large-scale road development projects in Telangana, according to Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The announcement was made on Saturday, 8 November.

The approved projects include the expansion of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway from four lanes to eight lanes at a cost of Rs 104 billion. This upgrade aims to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and reduce travel time along one of the state’s busiest corridors.

A further Rs 360 billion has been sanctioned for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. The six-lane highway is expected to revolutionise Telangana’s transport infrastructure by improving regional connectivity and supporting logistics, industrial, and residential growth around Hyderabad.

Additionally, Rs 114 billion has been allocated for Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) projects, covering the construction of new rural roads and the conversion of existing single-lane roads into double-lane routes. Tenders for these works will be issued shortly, the minister confirmed.

The government has also approved Rs 80 billion for a 52-kilometre elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam, designed to enhance accessibility to the temple town, and Rs 200 billion for a Greenfield Highway connecting Hyderabad’s Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati, which is expected to improve interstate trade connectivity.

Minister Venkat Reddy expressed optimism that these infrastructure projects would not only boost investment inflows but also generate substantial employment opportunities, particularly for rural youth. He added that the roadworks would strengthen Telangana’s position as an investment-friendly state and improve mobility across its urban and rural landscapes.
