Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway to the nation, the Prime Minister's Office said, with officials noting it will halve travel times to major pilgrimage hubs. The scheme will cut travel time between Delhi and Katra from about 14 hours to nearly six hours and shorten the Delhi to Amritsar journey from about eight hours to four hours. He will dedicate the 157.92 kilometre (km) long, four-lane Packages one to five and later inaugurate the 30.9 km Package six. The corridor, part of the 667 km route, is expected to decongest NH-44 and to boost pilgrim and tourist traffic to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi while catalysing industrial and logistics development along the alignment. The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Jind, Haryana, where he will flag off India's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat. The 10-coach, 3,200 HP train uses hydrogen fuel cells and produces only water vapour as a by-product, representing zero carbon emissions. He will lay the foundation stone and dedicate development projects worth around Rs 147 bn at Eklavya Stadium in Jind and will also dedicate National Highway projects worth over Rs 124.7 bn in Haryana. These include the 33.81 km Ambala-Kala Amb Highway on NH-7 and NH-344, and the 40.60 km Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway on NH-352A, which will reduce travel time between Jind and Gohana from about two hours to 40 minutes. The Prime Minister will dedicate Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani and Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Narnaul, and will lay the foundation stone of a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra. In Chandigarh he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 47 bn, including the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre at PGIMER and a 150-bed Critical Care Block under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
