Mysuru to Reopen Three Arterial Roads Before Dasara

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and the Public Works Department (PWD) will reopen three major arterial road stretches by October 5, 2026, to manage the expected increase in traffic during the Dasara celebrations. The roads are Manandavadi Road, Manipal Junction Road and Banni Mantap Road.

The three stretches are nearing completion of white-topping, or concrete road construction, along with the relocation of underground utilities. The work is intended to improve traffic movement during the festival period, when Mysuru typically receives a significant increase in visitors and vehicles.

Concretization began in April 2026 under Phase 1 of the project, and final work is now being completed before the roads are opened to the public. Drainage conduits, water pipelines, power cables and telecom networks were shifted to side corridors before the road surfaces were laid, a measure intended to reduce the need for future road cutting.

The Mysuru district administration has also ordered a temporary suspension of white-topping work on the remaining nine major city corridors from early October until October 21, 2026. The pause is intended to prevent work-related bottlenecks during the high-density holiday period and keep key routes available for festival traffic.

The broader project covers the concretization of 46.088 km of important city roads at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.94 bn. It is planned to provide a 20-year pothole-free lifespan, improve visibility for drivers and lower long-term maintenance costs. The reopening of the three stretches ahead of Dasara is expected to provide additional capacity on the city’s arterial network during the celebrations.

Interview with: Lalit Das, Founder & CEO, Agentra AIWhy the next phase of supply chain technology will be about AI that acts, not just advises?Supply chains no longer have a visibility problem. They have a decision-latency problem. It takes about 8.7 hours to detect a disruption and more than 40 more to understand its impact, all before anyone acts. Meanwhile, disruption costs the global economy an estimated $184 billion a year.Enterprises already own excellent systems of record. What they lack is a system of action. Copilots don't fix that, they just give faster answers about a broken pro..
