Nashik Sets Deadline Push for 18 Roads Ahead of 2027 Simhastha Kumbh

Nashik has intensified work on roads and other civic infrastructure ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, with Kumbh Mela minister Girish Mahajan directing officials to accelerate delayed projects after the monsoon construction slowdown. The review covered works being implemented by the Nashik Municipal Corporation, including roads, bridges, water supply schemes and drainage systems.

Mahajan instructed officials to use the post-monsoon construction window to recover lost time while maintaining construction quality. He also directed the civic administration to remove obstacles affecting the long-pending Gharpure Ghat-Ramwadi bridge and complete the remaining administrative and technical procedures at the earliest.

The minister prioritised sewage treatment plant projects at Tapovan and Agartakli. He also ordered immediate repairs to potholes created during the monsoon, directing inspections and restoration of both major and internal roads to proper standards.

Nashik Municipal Corporation officials said construction was under way on 18 major roads across the city. About 90 per cent of utility-shifting work on these routes had been completed, allowing road construction and surfacing to accelerate, while asphalting work is expected to gather pace from November.

The review also covered corridors intended to support traffic movement during the Kumbh Mela, including the Dwarka-Sinnar Phata corridor and other bypass routes. NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri said the proposed parallel road along Gangapur Road would receive priority, with tenders expected to be invited within a month. Mayor Himgauri Adke, MLA Devyani Pharande, district collector Ayush Prasad, Kumbh Mela Authority commissioner Shekhar Singh and other officials attended the meeting.
