Road Connectivity Between Longleng and Mon Launched

Road connectivity between Longleng and Mon districts was formally launched at a programme held on October 14, 2026, at Yeangmon, near Pangsha Bridge. The project covers the upgrade of the inter-district road from Yongphang village via Yangching to Ukha Lampong, referred to as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Road. The route is intended to improve connectivity between the two districts and link communities along the alignment. The programme was attended by Naiba Konyak and A. Nyemnyei Konyak, both MLAs, along with advisor for Airways and Railways A. Pongshi Phom.

Pongshi Phom highlighted the traditional brotherhood between the Konyak and Phom communities and urged residents of both tribes to extend full cooperation to the road construction project. He described the road as a common asset for the people and said it should be welcomed as a significant development opportunity. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the workers and departments involved in executing the project.

The advisor informed the gathering that surveys would be conducted to determine the road alignment and identify better water sources for villages. He said road and communication infrastructure was essential for all developmental activities and therefore needed to receive top priority. He acknowledged that the project would be implemented in phases and would take time, but assured the gathering that it would eventually be completed.

Naiba Konyak and A. Nyemnyei Konyak also addressed the programme. Chairmen of the Yongphang, Yangching, Ukha Lampong and Ukha village councils delivered short speeches, along with the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department’s Longleng Division and representatives of the Phom People’s Council. The event was chaired by Lakphak, Junior Engineer of the Public Works Department’s Longleng Division, and began with an invocation by the pastor of Yongphang Baptist Church. It concluded with a benediction by the pastor of Ukha Baptist Church, according to a Department of Information and Public Relations report.
