Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced approval of Rs 8,404.1 million (Rs 8,404.1 mn) for the upgradation of key sections of National Highway-365BB in Andhra Pradesh. The allocation covers the conversion of a 45.09-km stretch, encompassing the Buttaigudem-LND Peta and Pattiseema-Kovvur sections, into a two-lane configuration with paved shoulders. The project is framed as part of efforts to strengthen regional infrastructure and improve connectivity. The package forms part of ongoing central support for state road modernisation. Authorities expect the upgraded highway to improve access to the Polavaram Irrigation Project and surrounding rural areas, facilitating faster movement of agricultural produce. The corridor is intended to accelerate transport of tobacco, sugarcane, palm oil and aquaculture products, strengthening logistics for local farmers and supporting socio-economic development across the region. Officials project benefits for commuters and trade through enhanced inter-state links between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Improved carriageway and shoulders are expected to reduce travel time and operating costs for freight vehicles. The route will also provide improved access to bathing ghats along the Godavari River, aiding pilgrims and visitors ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027. State leadership welcomed the sanction as a step towards infrastructure-led growth and highlighted its role in ensuring faster market access for tobacco, sugarcane, palm and aqua farmers. Officials noted the scheme aligns with the government's broader focus on delivering future-ready infrastructure. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conveyed gratitude to the Union minister and the Prime Minister for sanctioning the funds and indicated that the works will bolster economic activity in affected districts. The implementation is expected to involve phased construction and coordination with state agencies to minimise disruption. Project proponents signalled that timely execution will be pursued to maximise benefits for agriculture, trade and local mobility. Stakeholders emphasised coordination with local communities during construction to address access and safety concerns.
