Traffic Diversions Near TTK Road Junction from October 9

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions at the TTK Road-Sriram Nagar junction in Chennai for three months from October 9. The restrictions have been introduced to facilitate Chennai Metro Rail tunnel cross-passage work in the area.

Vehicles travelling on TTK Road from Adyar Gate Hotel and Abhiramapuram 4th Street towards Sriram Nagar North Street will not be allowed to continue through the junction. Motorists using this route will instead have to take TTK Road 1st Cross Street to reach Sriram Nagar North Street.

A separate restriction will apply to vehicles travelling from Sriram Nagar North Street towards TTK Road. These vehicles will have to proceed through North Street and then use TTK Road 1st Cross Street to reach TTK Road.

The diversions are scheduled to remain in force for three months, covering the period during which the metro tunnel cross-passage work is carried out near the junction. The traffic arrangements are intended to regulate vehicle movement around the work site and provide an alternative route for motorists travelling between TTK Road and Sriram Nagar.

The traffic police have asked motorists and members of the public to co-operate with the diversion arrangements. Commuters using the affected roads have been advised to follow instructions at the junction and use the designated streets while the restrictions remain in place. The changes will affect traffic approaching the junction from both TTK Road and Sriram Nagar North Street, with TTK Road 1st Cross Street serving as the principal alternative route during the work period.
