Chennai Metro inks Rs 40.58 bn deal with RVNL for underground stations

Chennai Metro Rail (CRML) officially inked three contract agreements with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) totalling a substantial sum of Rs 40.5820 billion.

The scope of these three packages encompasses the construction of 12 complete Underground Metro stations and four additional Underground Metro station components, excluding diaphragm wall work, extending from Kilpauk Metro to Taramani, as detailed in a CMRL press release.

Furthermore, the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for these three tenders was issued on July 20, 2023. Importantly, the funding for these packages is being provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The official signing of the Contract Agreement transpired with T Archunan, Director (Projects) representing CMRL, and Kamalakara Reddy, Chief Project Manager/Coordination/Chennai, representing RVNL. This significant event was held in the presence of MA. Siddique, Managing Director of CMRL, as indicated in the release.
