The decision followed complaints from motorists and local users about sections of the road that were said to show premature surface distress soon after the stretch was opened to traffic. The expressway forms a key link between the two cities and serves heavy intercity traffic. Motorists and residents conveyed their concerns through photographs and messages that circulated online and drew attention from civic groups. Reports highlighted instances of cracking, rutting and uneven patches that, according to local observers, affected ride quality and raised safety questions on parts of the multi?lane corridor.
