Railways to launch Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat in Aug

The Railway has announced its plans to convert 55 stations in the East Central Railway (ECR) into model stations, with improved facilities. A comprehensive plan has been formulated to upgrade these stations, aiming to provide passengers with a more convenient and comfortable experience. Notably, stations such as Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Patna Sahib are part of this development.
The Railways intends to enhance rail connectivity by introducing the Vande Bharat Express and increasing the speed limit of select trains to 160 km per hour.
It was reported that in the first or second week of August, the railways planned to launch a semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express train between Patna and Howrah. This would be the second Vande Bharat Express for Bihar, following the successful launch of the train on the Patna-Ranchi line on June 27.
It was expected that the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express would cover a distance of 535 kilometres in approximately seven hours. Although the tariff had not been finalized, it was anticipated to be Rs 2,650 for the AC Executive Class and Rs 1,450 for the AC Chair Car for a single journey, including meals or breakfast.
Moreover, as part of the redevelopment plan for railway platforms, several amenities would be offered, including free Wi-Fi, kiosks selling local products, an improved passenger information system, executive lounges, dedicated spaces for business meetings, and enhanced landscaping.
The ambitious plan also covered station building improvements on both sides of the city, promoting multimodal integration, catering to the needs of persons with disabilities (divyangjans), creating an environment-friendly atmosphere, and providing a roof plaza for passengers' convenience.
