Krishnapatnam Port’s Command and Control Center inaugurated

In sync with the new age initiatives, Krishnapatnam Port – the country’s largest all-weather, deep water port on the east-coast of India – has established a centralised state-of-the-art Command and Control Center. The port has always been proactive in adopting new and innovative technologies to enhance improved efficiencies in port security and operations. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Minister of State for Home Affairs recently inaugurated the center. This was also followed by his participation in the sapling plantation, an initiative taken up by the port to be a Clean and Green Port, aligning to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative.

With several close watch centers placed around the port, it is imperative to have a well-founded, centralised command center to supervise the working around the port. The Command Center uses the latest technologies to monitor port security and operations. Equipped with several screens, the centre displays information on a real term basis, which includes – port channel and berth activity, port railway sidings activity, warehouse stock information, RFID (related truck movement container vessel throughput) and advance vehicle tracking system among others.

The honorable minister was given a detailed orientation about Krishnapatnam Port and its performance and achievements since its inception. Besides, the minister also examined the marine infrastructure from the sea side, which amazed him along with the scale of operations, the facilities and services offered by the port.
