L&T Metro to position girder at site

L&T Metro Hyderabad, the concessionaire for the metro rail project in the city, would soon position the first girder launcher at a site near the Kukatpally arch for the second stage of the project i.e. between Miyapur and SR Nagar, a 12-km stretch.

Once the first launch girder is up and begins to function fully, a second launch girder too would be installed on the chosen route to expedite the process of forming the viaduct by putting the segments in place. Work on the piers for the first station on this route at Kukatpally Housing Board too has begun.

The concessionaire would bring the segments to the site by trailers once the launch girder is assembled in place atop the installed piers. The segments would be mounted one by one.

Once the segments are in place they will be bound together by cables and glued so that the viaduct is in place for the rails to be laid.

The launch girders are first assembled and simulated at the workshop in Qutbullapur before they are dismantled and again put together at the project site.

The viaduct may be formed from the site to Miyapur to begin with since most of the piers (350) on the way are up with barricading all along the centre of the road.
