Mormugao port plans export terminal project
Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) proposes to build a Rs 721 crore iron ore export terminal project West of Breakwater based on the public-private partnership model. The terminal is scheduled to be operational by March 2014 and will provide mechanised facilities for direct export of Karnataka’s iron ore through MPT. Its design envisages mechanised equipment for ore handling, along with modern pollution control and dust suppression systems to ensure zero pollution and spillage. The plan is to load the empty railway rakes, after discharge of ore, with imported coal on the return leg of the journey.
