Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, engaged in a Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port roadshow to boost the forthcoming Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) 2023. The event aims to connect with global investors and promote collaboration for India's maritime growth, aligning with PM Modi's vision. The third GMIS slated for 17-19 October, 2023, seeks to enhance India's maritime sector as an economic catalyst. He highlighted the sector's contribution—over 90 per cent of EXIM cargo by volume and 70 per cent by value—and emphasised the role of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in port development.
