The Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government, which recently presented their first budget, allocated Rs 500 crore for 24 x 7 water supply project under Smart City. The government´s thrust to solar projects in the budget will also give an added advantage to Kochi´s Rs 696-crore Solar City Project, which was approved by the Union government last year. Another big plan is to introduce 1,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses in Kochi.
