Essex Marine Starts Integrated Cold Chain Operations

Essex Marine Limited (the Company) announced on 24 February 2026 that it has commenced integrated cold chain logistics operations under the brand DE SENS COLDSTORE, marking a strategic transition from a rental-based cold storage model to a fully integrated end-to-end cold chain solutions platform. The move follows prior operation of the cold storage facility on a rental basis and the use of third-party logistics providers to service cold chain requirements. The Company said the new arrangement is intended to bring greater control over service delivery and commercial outcomes.

Going forward, the Company will directly provide comprehensive cold chain logistics services including storage, transportation and distribution, with full operational control and customer billing retained in-house. An experienced operations team from Logistore has been engaged to supply operational expertise and manpower support while ownership, branding and overall commercial responsibility will remain solely with the Company. The arrangement is designed to professionalise execution and streamline operational decision making.

As part of the initial phase, the Company proposes to lease four refrigerated vehicles and to purchase one 12-ton refrigerated truck to form the foundation of its in-house fleet. Additional refrigerated vehicles are expected to be inducted over the next four to six months to scale operations in line with anticipated demand. The Company also proposes to expand into the North-Eastern region, commencing with Siliguri followed by Guwahati, thereby strengthening its regional distribution footprint.

Management expects the strategic shift to enhance logistics-driven revenues within the next financial year and to improve operational efficiencies across the supply chain. The initiative is intended to position DE SENS COLDSTORE as a comprehensive and professionally managed cold chain solutions provider.

As Dr SB Hegde, Professor, Jain College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli and Visiting Professor, Pennsylvania State University, USA, puts it, “Operational excellence… is no longer about producing more. It is about producing smarter, cleane..
