Gateway Distriparks Q2 revenue rises 2.7% to Rs 5.86 billion

Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL), a multimodal logistics company, reported a 2.7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in revenue to Rs 5.86 billion for the second quarter of FY27. EBITDA rose 6.6 per cent to Rs 1.32 billion, while profit before tax (PBT) increased 15.1 per cent to Rs 790 million. Profit after tax (PAT), however, declined 11.7 per cent to Rs 585 million.

The company handled a total throughput of 191,749 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the quarter, down 3 per cent from 197,642 TEUs in Q2 FY26. The rail vertical recorded throughput of 102,970 TEUs, up 1.7 per cent, while the container freight station (CFS) vertical handled 88,779 TEUs, a decline of 7.9 per cent.

For the first half of FY27, revenue increased 1.3 per cent YoY to Rs 11.39 billion and EBITDA grew 2.6 per cent to Rs 2.53 billion. PBT rose 6.8 per cent to Rs 1.5 billion, while PAT declined 14.6 per cent to Rs 1.1 billion. Total throughput during the six-month period fell 2.5 per cent to 375,616 TEUs.

The decline in PAT was attributed to a change in the company's tax regime from 1 April 2026. GDL opted for the concessional tax regime under Section 115BAA of the Income Tax Act, under which it cannot claim deductions under Section 80-IA. The effective tax rate increased to 25.17 per cent in the current year from 9.57 per cent in the previous year, when the company had benefited from accumulated minimum alternate tax (MAT) credit. The company said the increase in cash tax outgo was limited, with the rate rising to 18.88 per cent from 17.47 per cent due to utilisation of accumulated MAT credit.

Prem Kishan Dass Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Gateway Distriparks, said the container business had recovered compared with Q1 FY27, with revenue growing 12 per cent, EBITDA 15.3 per cent and PAT 23 per cent quarter-on-quarter. He attributed the performance to improved business activity despite geopolitical uncertainties, container imbalances and irregular vessel schedules.

The company expects growth opportunities from the commencement of export-import (EXIM) operations at Ankleshwar, progress on its upcoming Indore inland container depot (ICD) and the benefits of India's recently signed trade agreements.

Its cold-chain subsidiary, Snowman Logistics, is also expanding its network and is on track to reach a capacity of 175,000 pallets by mid-2027.
