Sindhu Trade Links Acquires Advent Coal and Sainik Mining

Sindhu Trade Links (STLL) has acquired controlling stakes in Advent Coal Resources and Sainik Mining and Allied Services for a total consideration of Rs. 9.23 bn. The acquisitions are intended to expand the group’s integrated mining platform and strengthen its capabilities in coal, logistics and infrastructure.

STLL acquired a 78.26 per cent stake in Advent Coal Resources, Singapore, for Rs. 6.97 bn. It also purchased a 50.10 per cent stake in Sainik Mining and Allied Services for Rs. 2.25 bn. The transactions give STLL interests across coal resources, mining services and supporting infrastructure.

Advent Coal Resources owns an effective 100 per cent economic interest in an Indonesian coal project containing a 620 mn t resource. The project is being developed in East Kalimantan as an integrated coal and infrastructure development, with a 130 km logistics corridor connecting the mine to a deep-sea port and a future industrial cluster.

The investment in Sainik Mining and Allied Services adds operating expertise to STLL’s mining business. The company provides mine developer and operator services, including overburden removal, coal extraction and coal transportation, and has experience managing long-term contracts and outsourced mining operations.

STLL chief executive officer Vikas Singh Hooda said the combination of operating capabilities, strategic assets and an expanding international footprint positioned the group to build scale and increase its participation in strategic mineral development and commercial mining opportunities. The diversified group has interests in mining, logistics, transportation and allied businesses, and said the acquisitions would support its effort to build sustainable value over the long term.
