PM lays foundation stone for Bundelkhand Expressway

To supplement the nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor announced in February 2018, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the 296-km-long Bundelkhand Expressway at Chitrakoot. To be built at Rs 148.49 billion, the Expressway is expected to benefit Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Etawah districts.

Projects such as the Bundelkhand Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway or the proposed Ganga Expressway are expected to not only increase connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, but also create employment opportunities and connect the people with the facilities available in big cities, as per the Prime Minister.

Further, Rs 37 billion crore has been allocated for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor in this year's budget, considering the huge defence equipment requirements spanning from land systems, ships and submarines to fighter aircraft, helicopters, weapons and sensors. The Prime Minister also added that a provision of UP Defense Corridor is also getting momentum from the Bundelkhand Expressway.
