Steady Growth

Eimco Elecon India Ltd traces its journey from inception to its products and foray into the Indian construction industry.

Eimco Elecon (India) Ltd has been a pioneer in manufacturing and marketing reliable heavy duty equipment for underground and opencast mines since its incorporation in 1974 under the flagship of Elecon Group of Companies, which was established in 1951.With a sound technical skillset and most modern manufacturing facilities and practices, Elecon Group has been a market leader in manufacturing material handling equipment and related projects in India and has diversified its interests in wagon tipplers, stacker reclaimers, industrial gear boxes, industrial geared motors, industrial electro magnets, wagon and ship loaders, wind mills, various electronic equipments, etc. Eimco Elecon (I) Ltd was also the first to introduce the intermediate technology of side dump loaders (SDLs), load haul dumpers (LHDs) and rocker shovel loaders in India to partially mechanise the underground coal and metalliferrous mines.

Sound technology
In 2008, the company diversified into construction equipment by acquiring the technology of articulated loading shovels from a leading German manufacturer. The first model was AL 120, an articulated four wheel drive loader in 6 tonne capacity. Till then, the Indian construction equipment market had not experienced a technically-designed loader below 10 tonne capacity (with 1.7 cum bucket). The entire loader operations below this capacity were being fulfilled by a multipurpose ma-chine, a backhoe loader, which does not  have the features of a conventionally designed loader, which must have a four wheel drive, articulation, wheels of equal size and width, brakes in all four wheels, an engine at the rear end, Z bar linkage and the least turning radius with minimum cycle time.

High performer
The AL 120 articulated loader is equipped with all of the above features and has a hydrostatic drive, which makes it highly fuel efficient, a better performer on output in tonnage and least on maintenance cost. The company’s customers have depicted their faith in the product with repeat orders.

Growth strategy
Since inception, Eimco Elecon Construction Equipment Department has doubled its sales every year and is penetrating into different market regions and sectors in a planned and phased manner as it is imperative to have a good service and sales support setup in the construction equipment industry before introducing products into the market. This strategy is working well for the company as it is able to double our sales year on year and this year also is no different.

Allied products
Also to provide utility to the customers, Eimco Elecon has introduced attachments like multipurpose bucket, sweeper, high dump buckets, forklift, etc. The bigger models will also be launched soon; these are highly rugged machines designed with the focus on the Indian operating conditions, and the company expects a good market response for them.

A win-win situation
With many new players entering the segment, the products are getting better by the day and so is the loader technology. With increased demand, numerous manufacturers and the latest technology, it has become a win-win situation for the user, manufacturer and the construction industry as a whole.
