Ranchi airport terminal is in need of approach road

In Jharkhand, the Rs 138-crore airport terminal building in Ranchi is ready and awaits its inauguration. Union Defence Minister AK Antony will take a final call on construction of a 1km approach road to the new world-class integrated terminal building of the Ranchi airport. Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials had earlier planned to inaugurate the building soon after Diwali.

Additional Secretary in the Defence Ministry Anuj Kumar Bishoni, who held a meeting with Jharkhand Chief Secretary SK Chaudhary, Development Commissioner and other officials on November 16, promised the officials concerned that the matter will be taken up with Antony, who would have the final word on the issue.

Sources at the airport said if things go as planned and Antony gives his nod to the project, the approach road would be ready before December 31 and the terminal building would be thrown open in the first week of January.
