The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) has stated that commercial operation of Kudankulam's 1,000-MW unit atomic power plant in Tamil Nadu has again jumped the target date by a month to May. The second 1,000-MW unit at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project is expected to start commercial operations in December 2014. NPCIL is also setting up two 1,000 MW Russian reactors at Kudankulam in Tirunelveli district. The total cost of the project is over Rs 17,000 crore.
