Engineering projects worth Rs 50,000 cr planned

Gujarat government has received over 300 proposals in the engineering sector involving companies engaged in automobile equipment and ancillary manufacturing, steel pipes, ceramic, electrical equipment. Among others, Delhi-based Gold Glass has proposed to invest Rs 2,000 crore for a glass making unit to be set up in Jhaghadia. General Motors and Electrotherm intend to expand their existing facilities. GM will invest around Rs 500 crore in its existing facility at Halol. Siemens and Toto have sent their proposals to invest approximately Rs 500 crore and Rs 700 crore respectively.
