The prices of steel products like Hot Rolled Coil and TMT bar have increased by 34.38 per cent and 35.64 per cent respectively, during the last three years. This is due to a number of factors such as increase in the cost of crucial raw materials, labour, transportation and other inputs. There is an increase of 27.86 per cent (in rupee terms) in the prices of iron ore during the last three years. The prices of steel items in the domestic market have also been fluctuating in accordance with a number of conditions in the domestic market, international steel prices, raw material prices and other inputs.
