The proposed expansion projects under Phase-3 of the Kamarajar Port (KPL) has received environmental and coastal regulation zone (CRZ) clearance from the expert appraisal committee (EAC) of the ministry of environment.

<p>The project was earlier recommended for environmental clearance, but the EAC suggested a re-appraisal for not complying with certain conditions which were laid out. KPL has acquired lands from TNEB, TIDCO and the Salt Department for the expansion.</p>
