Centre Releases Rs 3 Bn for Palakkad Industrial Smart City

The Central Government has released the third instalment of Rs 3.2 billion for the Palakkad Industrial Smart City Project, a flagship node of the Kochi–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.The latest allocation has been made to the Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (KICDC), while the State Government has transferred an additional 316 acres of land for the project. The Jammu and Kashmir Government has spent Rs 7.92 billion so far on the implementation of various Smart City projects across the Union Territory, marking a significant increase in urban infrastructure investments over the past seven years.According to official data presented in the Assembly, annual spending on Smart City works has seen a consistent rise — from Rs 80.86 million in 2018–19 and Rs 80.34 million in 2019–20 to Rs 2.47 billion in 2023–24 and Rs 2.65 billion in 2024–25.
