Minor port in South Goa

The Union Minister for Shipping will set up a minor port at Betul in south Goa. The project will be a JV between the Centre and the Goa Government. The port will have two options - either two offshore terminals or terminals close to shore. If it is close to shore, the river will be dredged and draught of 17.5 m will be maintained, and if off-shore it will feature conveyor with a draught of 17.5 m. The port will handle bauxite up to 50 lakh tonne per annum and iron ore of 10 lakh tonne. Contact: Ministry of Shipping. Website: shipping.gov.in
