The Maharashtra Government plans to construct a new greenfield airport at Purandar in Pune. Spread over 2,400 hectare, the airport will be constructed by the Airports Authority of India. Located in the south of the city, the proposed airport will be connected with six different routes including NH-4 and NH-17. It will also include a special ring-road connecting major industrial establishments with the proposed airport from Hadapsar. The proposed airport will have two airstrips, each with a length of 4 km. It will handle cargo along with passenger traffic.
