Ambuja, ACC at forefront of water positivity

Ambuja Cements and ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Group, have been actively involved in various water conservation initiatives for the past twenty years, demonstrating their proactive approach to addressing the issue of water scarcity in India. It was reported that Ambuja Cement had achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the only cement company to achieve a water-positive status that exceeded its water consumption by eight times. Similarly, ACC had achieved a water-positive status that was nearly twice its water consumption and had committed to increasing it to five times by 2030.

The United Nations Global Compact Network India recognised Ambuja Cements as the sole cement manufacturer demonstrating leadership in water security. Moreover, both Ambuja Cements and ACC gained international recognition for their contributions to water security from CDP.

Ajay Kapur, the CEO of the Cement Business, expressed his humility and gratitude for the recognition of their collective efforts in protecting and replenishing the planet's vital resource. He mentioned their commitment to creating a sustainable future where water is not only conserved but also valued. He also emphasized their dedication to inspiring others and making a meaningful impact as they lead the way toward a truly water-positive world.

Ambuja Cements and ACC are committed to promoting sustainable water usage practices throughout their operations. They acknowledge the importance of conserving water resources and have implemented significant measures to optimize their processes, prevent excessive freshwater consumption, and encourage water conservation, harvesting, and recycling.

By educating communities about responsible water management, the companies raise awareness and contribute to ensuring the availability of clean drinking water for daily household use within their communities. Over the years, they have implemented multiple projects focused on rainwater harvesting.
