Felicitating Experience

CCMA felicitated renowned scholar and practitioner Prof Ravindra Kumar Dhir, OBE and Willie Kay at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai.

In a glittering and well attended function in Mumbai recently, CCMA (Construction Chemicals Manufacturers' Association) felicitated Prof RK Dhir and Willie Kay. The technical presentations providing excellent exposure of state-of-the-art technology by these two eminent personalities in the industry were well appreciated by the audience.

Samir Surlaker, President, CCMA and Managing Director, MC Bauchemie India, opened the event by welcoming the invitees, and Dr BL Maheshwari, General Secretary, CCMA and Managing Director, Aquaproof conducted the proceedings. Prof Dhir and Willie Kay were conferred with International Life Honorary Memberships. They committed to helping CCMA in its future endeavours. This is a step that will add to CCMA's credence in the future.

About the personalities

Professor Dr Dhir is an internationally renowned scholar and practitioner in concrete, technology and construction. He is the Emeritus professor of Concrete Technology and founding Director of the Concrete Technology Unit, Department of Civil Enginerring, University of Dundee, UK. He is also the Director of Applying Concrete Knowledge Ltd. Dhir's research interests include cement/concrete technology, durability of concrete, sustainability, reuse/recycling of materials, low carbon technologies, and novel construction applications. He was awarded Order of British Empire for his outstanding services to the cause of production and Protection of Concrete.

Willie Kay has been involved in the construction chemical industry for over thirty years, specialising in materials technology and the repair of concrete structures. He is currently the Director of his own consultancy company WAK Consultants Pte, providing advice on the use of specialist materials in the construction industry. He is a member of several committees within Singapore for the preparation of standards and codes of practice for concrete repair and waterproofing. He was also instrumental in introducing construction chemicals in India in the 80s.
