Odisha CM Announces Cement Factory Coming to Malkangiri Soon

Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister, Odisha, during his visit to Malkangiri on Saturday, announced plans to establish a large cement factory in the district aimed at boosting employment for the local population. He stated that a cement factory would be set up with an investment of Rs 40 billion, providing jobs for approximately 2,000 people in the region.

On the second day of his visit, the Chief Minister chaired a review meeting with district officials. The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Nityanand Gand, the minister for social security and empowerment of the disabled, scheduled tribes and scheduled castes development, minority and backward classes welfare, and school and mass education; Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi; Malkangiri MLA Narasinh Madakami; Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khil; southern revenue officer Rupa Roshan Sahu; southern range DIG Nitish Shekhar; district collector Ashish Elohim Patil; and forest officer Pratap Kattapalli.

Majhi emphasised the urgent need for the implementation of various schemes under the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development, Minority and Backward Classes Welfare Department, with a focus on improving railway infrastructure, national highways, roads, and rural development. He instructed officials to prioritize these projects.

The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of education, particularly the need to appoint at least two teachers in every school. He outlined plans to develop the region through the Jeevan Jeevika Mission, with the goal of bringing Malkangiri up to par with the leading districts of the state.

Majhi directed the southern revenue commissioner and the district collector to conduct reviews of the progress every 15 days and stressed the importance of focusing on the development of the cut-off areas.
