NTPC Transfers Jharkhand Coal Mines to Subsidiary NTPC Mining

NTPC has transferred two coal mines, Chatti Bariatu and Badam, in Jharkhand to its wholly-owned subsidiary, NTPC Mining, effective October 1, 2025, the company announced in a regulatory filing.

The move follows the amended Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) dated 17 September 2025, under which the ownership and operations of the two coal blocks have been shifted to NTPC Mining.

As India’s largest power generator under the Ministry of Power, NTPC currently supplies around one-fourth of the nation’s electricity, and the transfer is aimed at streamlining its coal mining operations through a dedicated subsidiary.
