SHGs to be tasked with task of building 5.5 lakh toilets

The Cabinet has given its approval to construct toilets in 110 civic bodies, with all government hostels to procure products from SHGs without tenders. Women self-help groups will now be entrusted the task of getting 5.5 lakh toilets constructed in municipalities, corporations and nagar panchayats. The Cabinet has also decided to hand over the construction of toilets at a cost of Rs 379 crore in 110 civic bodies to SLFs under the Swachch Bharat campaign.
