GE Hitachi, Poland's PGE sign nuke deal
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) and Poland-based Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (PGE) have agreed to collaborate on Poland's initiative to build next-generation commercial nuclear power plants. Under the agreement, GEH will help PGE to study the feasibility of building upto four reactors based on one of GEH's reactor designs: the 1,350 MW Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) or the 1,520 MW Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR).Poland plans to build two nuclear power plants to help diversify its energy production, which relies heavily on coal based technologies.
