NTPC to prepare DPR for 1,600 MW thermal power project

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked NTPC to prepare a DPR for the proposed 1,600 MW thermal power project at Margherita in Upper Assam. A meeting was held with Coal India, NTPC and Assam Power Generation Company to assess the modalities to set up the project. Coal India will provide coal linkage to the project from North Eastern Coalfields. The 1,600 MW power project will have two units with an installed capacity of 800 MW each.
